Interns from the Governor’s Summer Youth Employment Program organized a donation drive to support youth in need and collected an estimated $20,000 worth of items including bedding, new clothing, personal hygiene products, school supplies, and other essential items to support young people for the new school year.
In addition to the donation drive, interns planted trees at the As Gadao Reforestation Site in Malesso’ to help reduce soil erosion, restore native habitats, and support the island’s long-term conservation efforts.

BankPacific has begun a community program in Guam: Cleaning Up Our Roots. The bank has committed to cleaning one village park each month for the next year, with each one chosen by that village’s mayor. Members of the Guam Hawgs Motorcycle Club visited the Guam Department of Youth Affairs for the club’s annual Christmas in July gift donations. This year’s donations included It school supplies, food commodities, cleaning supplies, hygiene products, snacks, musical instruments and sports equipment, including two portable basketball rims.
In partnership with the Guam Healthcare Providers Coalition, DYA hosted a medical mission at the Haya Youth Resource Center in Hagat for more than 50 youth to receive school and sports physicals for the upcoming school year.
The University of Guam Triton Athletics and Field House Department awarded Gage Johnson Scholarships to three student athletes. The scholarships were made possible through a $2,000 donation by UOG Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Gage Johnson via the UOG Endowment Foundation.

Naval Base Guam and tenant commands volunteered at Marcial Sablan Elementary School July 25 in preparation for the public school’s first day of class.
During the five-hour community relations project, more than 40 sailors and civilians assisted with cleanup efforts at the Hågat school by clearing debris, moving furniture and supplies, and installing TV monitors in the school’s cafeteria.
