The Salvation Army’s Guam Corps, in partnership with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and community volunteers, hosted its 28th annual Thanksgiving Luncheon on Nov. 27 at the Chamorro Village in Hagåtña. This year, the Salvation Army and its volunteers served and delivered about 600 meals.

The Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands donated $2,500 to the Commonwealth Cancer Association in support of the nonprofit’s ongoing “Mission Possible” fundraising campaign. The donation was from funds raised at the 2025 HANMI Charity Classic Golf Tournament.

The P.D. Hemlani Foundation Ltd. donated ten 11th Gen A16 iPads and protective cases to the Guam Department of Education’s Special Education Department for students whose individualized education program, created pursuant to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, incorporates the use of assistive devices.
PDHF also donated $1,250 in Apple iTunes gift cards to purchase communication apps Proloquo2Go that gives students who are nonverbal a voice and helps them communicate with teachers, classmates, and family.
While the iPads remain with the student who received the donation, the purchased app can be transferred, allowing it to later be used by another student.
The 14th annual donation is made in honor of P.D. and Radhi Hemlani’s granddaughter, Sherina J. Hemlani, daughter of Jack and Devki Hemlani, who was also a special needs student

The Michael S. Lin Memorial Scholarship of $1,000 was presented to Cassandra Mae Tihpen, who is majoring in Health Science, with a concentration in Public Health at the University of Guam.
Lin was a member of the Rotary Club of Northern Guam, a past assistant governor and founded Hornet Sporting Goods in 1974. The presentation was made at the 50th Anniversary Gala of the Club.

The Archdiocese of Agana made a special collection for the victims of the earthquake on Sept. 30 in Cebu, Philippines. The collection of $49,681.44 was remitted to the Archdiocese of Cebu, of which $15,000 came from the Cebu Association of Guam.
GTA is offering the GTA Gives Community Tote Bag, created by local artist Novem Gimoto until Dec. 31 at all GTA retail locations for $20, with all proceeds benefiting Guam Animals in Need. mbj
