Nov. 11, 1950 to Jan. 23, 2026

Emilio Y. Uy, vice president of National Office Supply, passed away on Jan. 23 at the age of 75.

National Office Supply was founded by the Uy family, and Emilio Uy became synonymous with the brand and a well-known figure in both government and business arenas, as well as devoting time to civic organizations.

According to Journal files, Uy was born in Manila and arrived in Guam in 1981.

In Guam the company does business as National Office Supply and Golden Marketing and National Office Supply also has a store on Beach Road in Saipan.

National Office Supply survived two fires in Guam during its history – one in 1991 which began at an adjacent property to its store in the Micronesia Mall and in 2010, when its property in Barrigada was devastated by a serial arsonist.

Uy was named the 1997 Minority Small Businessman of the Year by the Guam Small Business Administration, and the 2009 Guam Small Business Person of the Year, and was a Guam Business Magazine 1997 Executive of the Year Nominee.

Uy also devoted much time during his life to his church and to his community.

He was awarded the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice — one of the highest honors bestowed by the Roman Catholic Church upon laypersons for distinguished contribution to the Church and society.

Uy was also a president of the Filipino community of Guam, an advisor and trustee emeritus to the FCG and a president of the Guahan Lion’s Club. He also served on numerous boards that included those of the Guam Chapter of the American Red Cross, and the Make a Wish Foundation, as it was then known.

His contributions to the Government of Guam included as a member of the board of the A.B. Won Pat International Airport Authority and as a director of the Guam Museum Foundation.

Tributes to his legacy came from Gov. Lourdes A. Leon Guerrero and Lt. Gov. Josha F. Tenorio, among others.  “Emilio Uy believed in lifting others and building bridges—between communities, generations, and cultures,” Tenorio said.

Nenita C. Baldovino, owner of Rambies Corp. and three-time president of the Filipino of Guam, said, “Emelio Uy’s life was defined by kindness, generosity, and a genuine love for people. His presence uplifted the community, and his legacy will live on in the many hearts he touched."

Uy is survived by his siblings Rosy U. Chua, Benjamin Uy, Ramon Uy, Vicky Uy, and Andrson Uy, their spouses and numerous members of the Uy family. Uy was due to be buried at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque beside his parents. mbj
