Environet Inc. wins $12.56M contract to build K-Span structures at AAFB
Environet Inc. of Kamuela, Hawaii, was awarded a $12.56 million firm-fixed-price contract to construct Type-1 K-Span structures at Andersen Air Force Base.
The contract provides warehouse space for the consolidation of war reserve material assets from containerized and open-air storage to environmentally controlled warehousing along the South Ramp.
Work expected to be completed by Nov. 4, 2027. The contract was a competitive acquisition, with six offers received. The 36th Contracting Squadron at Andersen made the award.
According to Journal files, Environet Inc. was established in 1995 and is a Veteran-Owned, U.S. Small Business Administration certified HUBZone firm with offices in Guam, Honolulu, and Colorado. Environet opened its Guam office after award of an IDIQ contract for “munitions response and incidental environmental remediation services, including ordnance work such as “munitions and explosives of concern” or MEC, at Navy and Marine Corps installations and other government agencies in Guam and the Pacific region (to include Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands and Yap in the Federated States of Micronesia).
In 2024, the 554th Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Squadron Engineers erected K-Span storage buildings at Andersen to replace both dated warehouses and other storage facilities that were damaged during Typhoon Mawar.

In related news, leaders from the Northern Mariana Islands, the Department of War, federal agencies, and community representatives gathered for an NMI Stakeholders Meeting in Saipan on Sept. 24 and Sept. 25.
DoW representatives delivered a report on economic impacts from Resolute Force Pacific and announced upcoming training; discussed continuing biosecurity efforts to protect eff the NMI from invasive species; addressed concerns in regard to unexploded ordnance, hazardous materials, and waste management; shared details for the upcoming Innovative Readiness Training medical wellness mission; and provided updates to current and future infrastructure improvement projects, according to a Sept. 27 release from DoW.
Construction for the Tinian Divert Airfield Project is nearly 80% complete, with concrete and asphalt placements in progress. A redesign of the fuel system is complete, with contract modifications in progress. The project is currently projected to be complete in 2027.

Officials provided updates on the Marpo Heights Road Project in Tinian, a warehouse project and future support structures at Camp Tinian, and proposed construction at the Saipan International Airport.
In addition, DoW representatives announced the deployment of the first Navy Seabees to Saipan in August to support projects in the NMI.
Representatives from the U.S. Pacific Fleet provided a report of updates to the Mariana Islands Testing and Training Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement/Overseas Environmental Impact Statement with an estimated completion of the draft in early 2026.

Following the resignation of Chita A. Blaise, CEO of the American Red Cross in Guam, the organization is now seeking an executive director for the Guam Chapter.
Joint Region Marianas issued a statement on social media on Oct. 8 by its commander Rear Adm. Brett Mietus, stating that lab results for all active military wells and surface water sources on Guam military installations were below Guam Environmental Protection Agency’s Interim Action Level for dieldrin of 0.2 µg/L (parts per billion/ppb).
