The Port Authority of Guam was among 10 Defense Community Infrastructure Program grants awarded by the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation, according to a Sept. 25 release, CHamoru Standard Time.
The port will receive a $4.8 million federal grant to undertake a $6.9 million project to “execute near-term structural and safety upgrades to stabilize the pier, extend its operational life, and maintain critical functionality.”
The project supports the readiness and lethality of Joint Region Marianas, according to the release.

United Airlines announced the same date it will replace its entire Boeing 737-800 fleet with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft and upgrade its check-in lobby at Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport, Guam with new kiosks designed reduce congestion and save customers time.
The first Boeing 737 MAX 8 is scheduled to arrive February 2026 and will feature “United’s signature interior with seatback entertainment in every seat, larger overhead bins for every passenger's carry-on bag, Wi-Fi available for purchase, more extra-legroom seating, and wireless Bluetooth connectivity, as well as LED lighting.
“A ribbon cutting for the new lobby will take place when construction is complete,” according to the release.
United's Guam-based 737 MAX 8 will have up to 166 seats, including up to 16 United First seats, the release said.
