Correction: The nomination for promotion of Rear Adm. Gregory C. Huffman from rear admiral (lower half) to rear admiral, was announced in a March 1 release (CHamoru Standard Time) by the U.S. Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. In its coverage, the Journal said Huffman may well be the first two-star admiral for Guam. However, the paper has been advised Guam has previously had a two-star admiral — Rear Adm. Paul J. Bushong, who served as commander of Joint Region Marianas from March 2010 to July 2012. Now Vice Admiral (Retired) Bushong was nominated in June 2012 for appointment to the rank of vice admiral and for assignment as U.S. Security Coordinator, Israel-Palestinian Authority.
