Just days after his promotion, Rear Adm. Gregory C. Huffman’s change of assignment has just been announced.
Rear Adm. (lower half) Gregory C. Huffman, who was selected for promotion to rear admiral on March 1, according to the U.S. Department of Defense, will be assigned as commander, Joint Task Force-Micronesia, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command — still in Guam, according to a release from DoD on March 2, CHamoru Standard Time.

Huffman is currently serving as the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command Representative for Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau; and also carries the titles of commander, U.S. Naval Forces, Marianas; and commander, Joint Region Marianas.
According to the admiral, as commander for Joint Task Force Micronesia he will take command of operations for the region and also “eventually have control of the Guam defense system.”
The task force already has personnel on Guam, Huffman said.
