Gov. Lourdes A. Leon Guerrero is confirmed as one of the speakers at VIS 2026 – a virtual islands summit taking place from Sept. 15 to Sept. 17.
The summit is organized by Island Innovation, a consultancy which hosts virtual and in-person summits with the aim of advancing “sustainable development, climate resilience, and innovation for island communities and small island developing states and sub-national jurisdictions.” Leon Guerrero and the more than 20 speakers announced will share “practical lessons and island-led approaches that connect island experience with global challenges,” according to VIS 2026.
Other speakers include Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. of the U.S. Virgin Islands, Sen. Christopher Kalani Cushman Lee of Hawaii and Kalani Kaʻanāʻanā, CEO of Hawaii Green Growth.

The governor has previously spoken at an Island Innovation event, according to Journal files, and the University of Guam’s Center for Island Sustainability has also been represented.
James Ellsmoor, founder and CEO of Island Innovation, gave the Journal an exclusive interview on his organization in the Journal in May 2023. See Islandstyle: Sustainability in action. mbj
