Telecom providers across the Marianas are approaching the final hurdles of mobile, cable, internet, and equipment restoration as companies continue to have technicians deployed following Super Typhoon Bavi.
Docomo Pacific: As of July 10, Mobile services are 97% restored on Guam as power restoration continues across the island and generators are distributed to areas that remain without electricity. For HFC Broadband Customers, 90% of broadband infrastructure is intact. For ‘Fiber to Home’ (FTTH) customers, 100% of Docomo’s direct fiber network remains intact and operational.
Mobile restoration continues in the NMI as crews continue to utilize backup generators and perform infrastructure repairs. In Saipan, the following cell sites have been restored: Mt. Tapochau, Thunder Chicken, Lower Base, Saipan International Airport, RJ Plaza, Finasisu, Koblerville, Crowne Plaza, MH2 Building, Marianas Business Plaza, Grandvrio Resort, CNMI Homeland Security, Sadog Tasi, Gualo Rai BECQ, Torres Building, DSebastian Building, Kensington Hotel, Afetna Supermarket, Navy Hill, Chinatown, Kagman 1, Kagman High School, Laolao Kagman, Paradiso Resort, Aquarius, Marpi Radar, Dandan, San Vicente, Herman Bakery, Santos Acres, Aqua Resort, LZ Market, Capitol Hill Homestead, Sasha Building, and HanNam Market.
In Tinian, cell service in Marpo Village, Carolina Heights, and Fleming Hotel continue to remain operational and in Rota, cell service has been restored to Valentino Resort and surrounding areas. Docomo advises customers in Guam to call 671-688-CARE (2273) and in the NMI to call 670-488-CARE (2273) for assistance.
GTA: As of July 11, 93% of wireless services and 97% of internet services have been restored and remain operational as crews continue to work extended hours to restore network services, respond to service interruptions, and complete installations. Remaining outages continue in areas still pending power restoration or due to damaged network equipment pending repairs.
Additionally, network restoration in hazardous or inaccessible areas may be delayed ensure the safety of crews. For internet customers, GTA advises customers to attempt to restart the modem once power has been restored in the home. GTA encourages customers to call 671-644-4482 if service issues persist.
IT&E: As of July 10, wireless service has been 84% restored in Guam, 97% restored in Saipan, 60% on Tinian, and 50% in Rota as IT&E teams work to restore service and strengthen network reliability. Internet restorations continue across the region. IT&E advises customers to call 671-922-4483 on Guam and 670-682-4483 to report service interruptions in their area. mbj
