The Payless Markets Community Foundation awarded a Mini-Kick The Fat Grant of $5,000 to Guam Animals in Need to launch and support the clinic’s new Her Last Litter Program, which aims to provide free spay surgeries for female pets.
Sen. Joanne M. Brown announced the re-appropriation of $350,000 in lapses from her last two terms in office.
Guåhan Paws for Pets will receive $25,000 to help cover the cost of supplies and medical services for animals under the care of Guåhan Paws; Guam Animals in Need will receive $35,000 for clearing and grading the drive-in area, installing a permeable driveway, reinforcing the perimeter fence, and installing a security camera system. Harvest House will receive $55,000 to stock essential items.
The Department of Public Health and Social Services Foster Care Division will receive $39,000 for resources; the Department of Agriculture’s Conservation Corps Apprentice Program in the Law Enforcement Section will receive $42,000 for equipment, including body armor and uniforms; the Department of Parks and Recreation’s Park Police Section will receive $42,000 for a new CCTV system, off-road motorcycles, portable generators, and other critical equipment to enhance safety and security; the University of Guam’s Water & Environmental Research Institute will receive $70,000 for research, training, and outreach related to the detection of salinity levels in Guam’s wells, and the Department of Corrections Administrative Service Divisionwill receive $42,000 to replace outdated computers and ensure compatibility with newly purchased software, allowing the department to better manage Guam’s prison and parole system.
Tyron Nauta, organizer and Proline Automotive’s toy drive for the car community received more than 300 toys to donate to Harvest House.
