The terms of Lee’s hiring are that she will begin on March 11 at a salary of $146,400 annually, with the board reviewing her performance every six months.
“I’m very excited that the board has finally been able to find a candidate to become our new general manager at GVB,” said George Chiu, GVB’s chairman of the board of directors. “We look forward to gearing up and moving as fast as possible to get our tourism economy turned around with this new hire.”
GVB has prepared a request for procurement for a third-party to search for a new candidate if Lee declines. The board is prepared to evaluate the other candidates for the GM position also.
A formal announcement of Lee’s hire will be made upon her acceptance of the board’s offer.
Later in the meeting, board vice chairman Joaquin P.L.G. Cook announced that he will pass on the role of chairman of the Tourism Recovery Committee to Mark S. Baldyga, chairman and CEO of Baldyga Group. Cook will instead serve as the committee’s vice chairman.
Baldyga has been vocal about the tourism recovery plan in the past; calling for immediate action by the board and stakeholders when it was presented at the Guam Hotel & Restaurant Association forum in December 2024. mbj
