Twice a week flights between Singapore and Palau are expected to start in the next few months, according to a press release.
Minister Ngiraibelas Tmetuchl, Ministry of Human Resources, Culture, Tourism & Development, and a team from Palau Visitors Authority, met with Amy Lai, vice president/head of sales of United Overseas Bank, during Asia Dive Expo 2023 in Singapore. Participating in that discussion was James Goh, Alii Palau Airlines founder and chairman.
Lai met with clients from Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam to strategize on the next steps of promoting tourism in Palau and exploring ways UOB can assist PVA to boost tourism in Palau, according to the press release.
President Surangel S. Whipps, Jr. has talked about Palau being a gateway between Asia and the Pacific.
Minister Alvin Tan, Ministry of State, Singapore, wrote on social media: “Did you know that a direct flight from Singapore to Palau will launch soon, cutting down travel time to only 4 hours?”
Tan said he and Minister Tmetuchl met at the F1 Singapore Grand Prix last year.
“As small island states, Singapore and Palau share much in common, including concerns shared by our youth such as mental well-being, jobs and skills, as well as digitalisation.” mbj
