Around 20% of the island's cellphone sites are out of service, according to the Federal Communications Commission.
There are 131 cell sites up in Guam. According to the report, cell sites are out due to:
• Damage: 7
• Transport: 10
• Power: 51
The report, which shows data as of June 13, doesn't say how many cell subscribers are impacted.
"This report incorporates network outage data submitted by communications providers to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Disaster Information Reporting System (DIRS). Note that the operational status of communications services during an event may evolve rapidly, and this report represents a snapshot in time," according to the FCC press release.
The report does note that a combined 2,325 cable and wireline subscribers were out of service and "this may include the loss of telephone, television, and/or Internet services."
Additionally, the island's public broadcast TV station, KGTF, is out of service, along with three FM radio stations KSTO, KISH and K290CR, and KTWG on the AM dial. mbj
