D-SNAP opens to residents with typhoon-related food loss; Honolulu sends help; and rolling power outages continue
Guamanians who had food loss or damage caused by Typhoon Mawar could qualify for the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
The Department of Public Health and Social Services and the United States Department of Agriculture announced the launch of the program. Regular SNAP clients are not eligible for D-SNAP and there are income and asset thresholds that determine eligibility.
Interested individuals must bring a valid I.D. and must apply at the approved D-SNAP enrollment centers, according to Public Health:
Micronesia Mall: Residents of Dededo, Harmon, Tumon, and Yigo.
Guam Premiere Outlet: Residents of Tamuning, Agana Heights, Asan-Maina, Barrigada, Chalan Pago-Ordot, Hagatna, Mangilao, Mongmong-Toto-Maite, Piti, and Sinajana.
Inalahan Senior Citizens Center: Residents of Hagat, Humatak, Inlahan, Malesso’, Santa Rita-Sumai, Talo’fo’fo, and Yona.
DPHSS officials encourage residents to apply at a center nearest to their homes. Each site will serve applicants based on the applicant’s last name using the following schedule:
DPHSS provided monthly net income threshold to help determine if an individual can qualify for this program, as well as the allotment you could be awarded.

Residents can expect rolling power outages to continue on June 20 as Guam Power Authority continues working on a high-voltage line.

Honolulu sends help to Guam for typhoon recovery
The Honolulu Department of Transportation Services is sending a two-person crew and equipment to assist with typhoon recovery efforts.
The equipment includes a heavy-duty utility truck and traffic signal equipment. The crew and equipment will augment Guam’s Department of Public Works’ assistance with water restoration and getting traffic signals at about 90 intersections operational.
According to a press release, the two-person crew will be here for a week and if further assistance is needed beyond that time frame a second crew will be sent.
Additionally, the city's Department of Facilities Maintenance (DFM) will be assisting in the transport of equipment to the airlift site at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.

- Temporary shelter and evacuation expenses.
- Disaster related funeral, pet boarding and medical expenses.
- Replacement of necessary personal items such as clothing, appliances, tools, and educational materials. Clean up expenses, and storage expenses.
