Community invited to public transportation improvement meeting
The Department of Public Works will be holding a public meeting on the Guam Transportation Improvement Plan Sept. 25.
According to a press release, the GTIP provides a "four-year plan that is financially feasible." It also presents the DPW's priorities for the expenditure of its federal aid highway program funding for the fiscal period 2024-2027.
One of the most common challenges people have in getting education beyond the public school system, or getting to and from work, is transportation. However, public transportation has been a challenge for the government as it works to balance the cost of the program while also accommodating the different needs of community members at affordable rates. The government, due to a shortage of buses, has held contracts with private companies that would provide busing services for at least a portion of the island's overall routes.
The meeting to discuss this latest plan that addresses past woes will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 25, at the Sinajana Community Center. The public is invited to review the plan at guamtransportationprogram.com and provide feedback.

The Guam Department of Revenue and Taxation has acknowledged the issues it has in a March 23 release and said it “is currently operating with adjusted services due to a temporary issue with its tax and licensing system.”
Blue Steel Marine LLC of Talofofo was awarded a $249 million contract for ship repair of Military Sealift Command vessels according to a March 19 release from the U.S. Department of War.
According to the Guam Department of Revenue and Taxation’s Web site, “Licensing and support services for GuamTax.com and MyGuamTax.com expired on September 30, 2025, at the end of Fiscal Year 2025.”
