More MilCon work at Andersen AFB coming up

Due out anytime soon is a Request for Proposals for a Multiple Award Task Order Contract with a ceiling of $930 million. This is for a variety of work at Andersen Air Force Base and potentially elsewhere in Guam.

“Due to damage to facilities and infrastructure resulting from Typhoon Mawar, the Air Force Installation Contracting Center/772nd Enterprise Sourcing Squadron and Air Force Civil Engineer Center, is seeking availability of firms that have experience providing Architect-Engineering Title I and Title II services for major renovations (Facilities sustainment, restoration, and modernization and MilCon planning efforts to facilities primarily located at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam and/or Naval Base Guam,” a sources sought notice said, which was due in January. The scope may also include projects at Joint Region Marianas, the notice said.

The purpose of the Sources Sought notice is to locate small businesses with experience in … “services for rebuild efforts following a typhoon or similar event, as well as those experienced with MILCON Planning and Design efforts. Firms shall be familiar with designing to extreme tropic island climates, to ensure proper consideration is given to the environmental factors. Experience working on Guam, particularly at Andersen AFB and Naval Base Guam is highly sought,” the Air Force said.

The Government will evaluate responses to the sources sought and determine if a Small Business set-aside or any of the targeted socio-economic programs (HUB Zone, 8(a) Small Business, Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, or Woman Owned Small Business), is appropriate for this MATOC, the Air Force said.

There are a number of projects programmed in the next few years where the construction and/or renovation value is expected to exceed $100 million, the notice said. Firms should “have the capacity to execute multiple task orders concurrently,” the Air Force said.

Ten companies were awarded a multiple award, design-build construction contract with a ceiling of $700 million for general construction at facilities on Andersen and at Northwest Field in November, according to Journal files. mbj

EPA allows gas with ethanol, Guam AG calls for roundtable on fuel supply and price

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin, in consultation with the U.S. Department of Energy and in accordance with the Clean Air Act, issued a temporary emergency fuel waiver to allow nationwide sales of E15, gasoline blended with 15% ethanol, and to remove all federal impediments to selling E10, gasoline blended with 10% ethanol, across the country.
