    Power to the people

The Palau Public Utilities Corp., with the help of the Japan International Cooperation Agency, are installing power poles in Babeldaob as part of the $20 million plus JICA Power Grid Upgrade Project. Work started in 2023 and is expected to completed by 2025. The objectives of the project are to contribute to improving power service to residents and support reduction of greenhouse gases. The effort would help stabilize the transmission system on Koror island and Babeldaob to smoothly transition between generator power and renewable solar energy. Photo by Oyaol Ngirairikl
