On May 8, the Guam Chapter of the American Red Cross was moving toward its goal for the gala at the Dusit Guam Resort on May 29.
With 70 tables still to sell in three weeks and the raffle just opened, the goal of $360,000 for the gala is within reach.
Marcos Fong, chairman of the board of the Guam Chapter, told the Journal at a May 8 news conference, “I’m pretty confident we will fill the room.”
The top prize for the raffle is a Triple J Motors Ford Ranger XLT Supercrew, with four-wheel drive. Other prizes include two round trip tickets to Dubai, courtesy of Philippine Airlines and two nights at the Dusit Thani Dubai, as well as hotel stays, donations from T Galleria by DFS, and gas certificates.
Raffle tickets are limited to 800 and are available at both Triple J locations on Marine Corps Drive, select Mobil Oil Guam gas stations and at the Red Cross office.
The theme of the 2023 event is “Turning compassion to action.”
Also present at the news conference were Chita A. Blaise, CEO of the chapter, Jay B. Jones, senior vice president for Triple J Enterprises Inc. and John Ilao, project manager for JMI-Edison and representative for the Andrea R. Ilao Foundation, a longtime partner of the Red Cross which is administering the raffle.
Blaise said that the Guam Chapter sources its own funds for its endeavors. “We operate out of the funds we raise in the community,” she said. mbj
