
Both the Guam Visitors Bureau and the Marianas Visitors Authority will be promoting their charms later this year at the annual Japan Association of Travel Agents Tourism Expo from Sept. 24 to Sept. 27 at the Tokyo Big Sight convention center.
MVA will also be participating in the upcoming Brand USA “mission” in Japan and Korea, which plans to feature “agent trainings, educational sessions, B2B meetings, and networking opportunities.”
Brand USA dates are July 20 to July 22 in Seoul, followed by July 23 and July 24 in Tokyo, with an agent training session in Osaka on July 27. MVA said in a May 27 release its fees for the Brand USA events have been waived.
The MVA release also noted the return of nighttime operations at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport and that it would discuss with the Department of Public Lands relocation of the MVA office to the vacant Japanese Lighthouse Property on Navy Hill to reduce operational costs by about $75,000 annually.
Kwang Joo “Tommy” Kim, vice president of SAI Leisure Group, was sworn in as a board member at the May 27 MVA board meeting. SAI does business as Crowne Plaza Saipan and the Century Hotel.
GVB participated in Kanmen Grand Prix 2026, a food festival at Komazawa Olympic Park in Tokyo on May 16 and May 17 by operating a Guam-themed food truck featuring traditional CHamoru desserts, according to a May 21 release.
