The incoming Ada-Calvo administration announced the appointment of leadership for the Ada-Calvo transition team during a press conference on Nov. 5.
According to Gov.-Elect Vicente Anthony Ada and Lt. Gov.-Elect Edward Calvo, their goal following the appointment of transition leadership would be to ensure a smooth transition and appointment of cabinet leadership.
“A smooth transition is not simply a courtesy between the outgoing and incoming administration, it is the obligation we owe to the people of Guam,” Ada said. “Our residents depend on government services every day and those services must continue without unnecessary interruption.”
Transition committee members will aid in the coordination of transition activities, which includes review of agency operations, evaluating cabinet candidates, and inaugural planning.
The following appointments have been made:
Ada said the administration will begin the selection of cabinet members as soon as the transition team has been organized, a submission portal to be available for candidates to submit their applications and resumes.
Calvo told the Journal a new executive position under tourism and destination development will open with the incoming administration.
“We will be one of the first administrations to dedicate an executive position to the industry of tourism because of the impact on our island and the state of tourism at this time,” Calvo said.
The incoming administration said as the transition period continues and cabinet leaders have been appointed; the administration will decide which issues of interest to prioritize first.
“When you have a team ready to do the job, priorities do not have to be limited to just one,” Calvo said. “There’s so many important issues that need to be addressed on the island so our administration will have the leadership team to move forward in every direction.” mbj
