First Hawaiian Bank has confirmed it will close its Gualo Rai branch on June 14.
This will leave FHB with one branch in Oleai in Saipan.
FHB did not respond when asked if the closure was connected to the lack of economic recovery in the Northern Mariana Islands.
A spokesperson in Hawaii, who declined to be identified said, “After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to consolidate our Gualo Rai Branch. This decision was not made lightly and took into account multiple factors including evolving banking trends and the ways we could improve our overall banking experience.”
The Gualo Rai branch will close at 4 p.m. on June 14, and welcomes customers to continue service at the Oleai branch.
“During this transition, we are actively supporting our Gualo Rai staff. To our valued customers on Saipan, we appreciate your understanding during this period of change and want to reassure you of our dedication to serving your banking needs,” the spokesperson said.
For any enquiries, customers may call (888) 844-444, FHB said.
FHB has 51 branches in Hawaii and three in Guam. mbj
