Guam company awarded bases landscaping contract; visitors to the region continue
Proferre Inc. of Tumon was awarded a $9.72 million “firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity modification to a previously awarded contract” for grounds maintenance and tree trimming services, according to a Nov. 25 release from the U.S. Department of War.
The award brings the total value of the contract to $19.14 million, and the contract modification is for the exercise of the first option period. Work will be performed at Naval Base Guam, and Andersen Air Force Base Guam, and is expected to be completed by November 2029. Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Marianas made the award.

In 2024 the company was awarded a contract by the Pacific Air Forces with a potential value of $19,000 and in 2023, was awarded a contract by the U.S. Geological Survey with a potential value of $90,500, according to Journal files.
Proferre was founded in 2021 and is a HUBZone certified small business.
In other U.S. military news, incoming Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Daryl Caudle and Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy John Perryman visited Guam to meet with sailors in an “all hands call” and Navy senior leadership, Nov. 19. According to one story the same day by Joint Region Marianas, “Discussions focused on ongoing efforts to enhance living conditions for military members stationed on Guam as well as projects to support the projected incremental population growth of approximately 10,000 service members, Department of War civilians, and their families over the next 10 years on island.”
USNI News reported Nov. 24 that Caudle also called on sailors to be ready for any potential conflict. Caudle also met with Gov. Lourdes A. Leon Guerrero, according to JRM, and was part of a 10-day tour that included Hawaii, South Korea and Japan, according to the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations. mbj

The Port Authority of Guam cut the ribbon on the upgraded Equipment, Maintenance, and Repair Building, signaling the completion of the $3.84 million project.
The Guam Department of Revenue and Taxation has acknowledged the issues it has in a March 23 release and said it “is currently operating with adjusted services due to a temporary issue with its tax and licensing system.”
