
Due to post Typhoon Sinlaku and other aviation industry issues, airline routes for the Mariana Islands plan various changes.
United is reducing service on the Guam-Nagoya route from five to three weekly fights during various periods.
The reductions began May 10 to May 29 and will continue from June 6 to July 31 and from Sept. 7 to Oct. 23. United flies either a 737-800 or a MAX 8 on the route.
Korean Air is still scheduled for two daily flights on the Guam-Incheon route until Oct. 24. KAL will operate a 737-800 on the route.
KAL and Asiana Airlines began code sharing in March on select domestic and international routes, as a step in the merger between the two airlines.
United plans to resume its post-Typhoon Sinlaku route from Saipan to Tokyo, Narita service on July 12, three times weekly. The airline will use a 737-800 or a MAX 8.
Korean carrier T’way Air will resume flights on the Saipan-Incheon route on Oct. 24. Service ceased on May 5. T’way was using a MAX 8 on the route.
Jeju Air will resume its Saipan operations on June 20. Philippine Airlines will follow on June 21, resuming service on the Saipan-Manila route, flying a PAL Airbus A321.
The airline has already scheduled a wide-bodied A330-300 instead of an A321 on the Guam-Manila route from Nov. 28 to Jan 2.
In related news, the Palau Visitors Authority released its April arrival numbers. Visitors arrivals are higher than numbers in March, and higher than March 2025. The country saw 7,507, with its two lead markets China and Taiwan, and 31, 886 visitors for the first four months of the year. In April 2019 Palau saw 8,384 visitors. mbj
