Madeleine Z. Bordallo has released her biography, entitled Breaking the Bamboo Ceiling.
The book, written with Pale’ Eric Forbes, offers insight and engaging anecdotes of Guam’s progress as well as Bordallo’s progress. A book signing will be held 2 p.m. on July 22 at the Bestseller Bookstore located at the Guam Premier Outlets in Tamuning.
Bordallo has had a long career in politics, having served as senator, Guam’s first lady, lieutenant governor and delegate to Congress. Bordallo is currently serving as Gov. Lourdes A. Leon Guerrero's representative in Washington, D.C.
In addition to her political career, Bordallo has generously given her time to civic organizations and community events that endear her even further to the island.
The book spans Bordallo's youth in Minnesota, arrival in Guam and her early years in postwar Guam, working with KUAM Radio, and embedding herself in the different components of the island, to include the Democratic Party of Guam and the island’s early non-profits such as the Guam Women’s Club and the Guam Memorial Hospital’s Volunteers Association, taking the reader from those years to the present day.
Pale’ Eric Forbes, OFM, Cap., is the current Capuchin Superior for Guam and Hawaii, and a prolific author in English and CHamoru.
Breaking the Bamboo Ceiling was prepared for its publication by the Creative and Editorial teams at Glimpses Media – one of a number of distinguished books it is preparing for publication.
