New restaurants continue to open in Guam with other businesses looking to expand their offerings on the island.
Taiwanese chain restaurant Gan-Mei Alley has put its roots down in Tamuning.
The restaurant is located across the Guam Premier Outlets, occupying the former IHOP location.
Gan-Mei Alley offers a number of Taiwanese cuisines, but users online say the restaurant specializes in soup dumplings.

One of Guam’s largest warehouse retailers Cost-U-Less, closed its Chalan-Pago location as the company readies itself to open its Hagåtña location later in 2026.
The Chalan-Pago store is the smaller of Guam’s three Cost-U-Less stores which first opened in October 2018 and was formerly the Island Fresh grocery store.
According to the retailer, Cost-U-Less specializes in operating in island markets, offering predominantly U.S. branded goods, while being designed to endure island weather and operating challenges, while being relatively affordable to construct and replicate.
Maui Tacos is under new ownership.
Richard Hart announced on social media in February that he and his partner purchased the company and name rights for the Hawaiian-based, Mexican inspired, restaurant following the passing of its founder, Mark Ellman, and the fires in Lahaina.
Ellman founded Maui Tacos in 1993 and expanded to 21 locations across seven states and a number of airports, later reducing to eight locations in the islands.
Maui Tacos will open a second location at Micronesia Mall.
Hart brought the brand to Guam in 2023; it was one of the first restaurants to open in the Village of Donki. He is seeking franchisees in Japan and in Hawaii, with plans to open a second location at the Micronesia Mall in March, Hart said.

The bank said in a statement the branch expands the institution’s presence “bringing convenient, personalized banking services to the region’s largest shopping destination”.
Boasting the bank’s Branch of Tomorrow design, the Micronesia Mall location offers the institution's services in a compact, high-traffic setting. What may drive traffic to the location is the extended hours. All of the bank’s locations are open on Saturdays.
Crowns Guam announced on March 4 that its flagship store in Hagåtña is closed until further notice.
Crowns, whose co-founder and creative director is Marvin V. Manibusan, is a Guam clothing retailer inspired by island street culture, founded in 2012. It then grew to be a staple in Guam’s fashion scene, primarily with its headwear. Crowns has also hosted events across California and more recently in Japan.
The business said on social media its closure is not the end for the brand, but an evolution. “We’re working behind the scenes to build something bigger and better for the culture, for the island, and for the people who’ve supported us from day one.” mbj
