Fiscal 2024 Section 30 funds remitted to GovGuam
The U.S. Office of Insular Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Interior announced that advance payments for 2024 of Section 30 funds of $76,195,730 were made to the Government of Guam the week ending Sept. 8.
Section 30 funds are typically remitted in September and are made through Guam’s Organic Act. Amounts are derived from federal income taxes of active-duty members of the U.S. armed forces and pensions paid to retired civilian and military employees of the United States, or their survivors, who reside in, or who are domiciled in Guam.
Amounts have varied through the years from $70 million to $75 million, at times equaling about 10% of the GovGuam general fund, according to Journal files. mbj
