USS Roosevelt docks in Guam, Cope North underway

USS Theodore Roosevelt, the fourth Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, returned to Guam this week.
The Roosevelt is home to about 5,500 sailors.

The carrier was last in Guam in 2020. It was docked for nearly two months due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Additionally, personnel from U.S. and allied nation’s air force organizations are in Guam for Cope North.

An exercise beginning Feb. 5 to Feb. 23 is a field training exercise focused on airborne integration for large-force employment and agile combat employment. According to the Pacific Air Force website, “approximately 1,700 U.S. Airmen, Marines, and Sailors will train alongside 700 Japan Air Self-Defense Force, Royal Australian Air Force, French Air and Space Force, Royal Canadian Air Force and Republic of Korea Air Force service members.

About 85 aircraft from the United States, Australia, Japan, France, and South Korea will fly 1,400 missions across three islands and six airfields.”
All month-long exercises will take place at Andersen Air Force Base and Northwest Field Guam; Antonio B. Won Pat Guam International Airport; Commonwealth Northern Mariana Islands - Tinian, and Saipan.
