Pacific Rim Constructors Inc. was awarded a $176.92 million “firm-fixed-price contract for design and construction (design-build)” for the replacement of Andersen Air Force Base Housing Phases VII and VIII.
Work is expected to be completed by December 2028. The contract was competitively procured via the sam.gov website, with four proposals received, and the award was made by Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Pacific.
On Jan. 20, 2023, a ribbon cutting was held for the turnover of the first group of newly developed duplexes, 38 units out of 186 units, according to Journal files.
According to Journal files, Pacific Rim Constructors Inc. was previously awarded in April a $21.98 million firm-fixed-price contract for construction at Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz of a permanent low-rise recreation center.
In other MilCon news, DZSP 21 LLC, the Guam Base Operating Support services contractor, was awarded a $7.86 million modification to a previously awarded cost-plus-award-fee contract for additional work and funds for option period three for base operation support services for Joint Region Marianas locations in Guam.
The award brings the cumulative value of the contract to $398.98 million. Work will be performed at the various Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force installations in Joint Region Marianas and is expected to be completed by July 2024. Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Marianas Guam made the award.

And finally, this year’s Valiant Shield military exercise will take place from June 4 to June 18. The 12-day biennial exercise is for U.S. forces and is expected to take place in a variety of locations in Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and elsewhere in the Micronesia region.
In June 2022, participants included the USS Ronald Reagan and USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Groups, the USS Tripoli, the 94th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, the I and III Marine Expeditionary Forces, Andersen Air Force Base’s 36th Wing, 15 surface ships, more than 200 aircraft, and an estimated 13,000 U.S. personnel.
