Senator Thomas J. Fisher has introduced the "Transparency in Legislative Travel Act of 2024" aimed to enhance transparency and accountability in the Guam Legislature. The Act requires that all senators' travel authorizations be publicly posted on the official Guam Legislature website.
The bill, officially known as Bill 323-37, mandates that detailed information about each travel authorization, including the purpose, cost, and nature of the travel, be accessible to the public. On Friday July 12, Fisher said on Wave 105’s mornings with Patti show, "If you've got official business that needs to be taken care of and it's not happening on Guam, and you need to go, then by all means. Go spend the taxpayers' money, do the work and come back." He said, "The bill itself requires disclosure; it doesn't forbid travel... You have to let people know where you're going, what you're doing, and why you're spending our money on that."
