Peleliu sees runway restoration and other efforts
Marines and sailors from Marine Corps Engineer Detachment - Palau continue to work on restoring a World War II runway to operating conditions on Peleliu. The work is part of an ongoing rotational deployment of Navy Seabees and Marine Corps Engineers.
Marines have made it a priority to assist with large community projects including road rebuilding, assistance with garbage disposal sites and building a volleyball court, even though the primary mission is runway restoration, according to the 1st Marine Logistics Group.

Palau and U.S. host Coastal Resilience Workshop
Palau's Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Environment and U.S. Indo-Pacific Command will host a Coastal Resilience Workshop at Palau Community College from Sept. 12 to Sept.14.
The event is in collaboration with the Palau International Coral Reef Center and the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and supported by Joint Region Marianas, and the U.S. Embassy in Palau.
The workshop will “engage academia, military, and civilian agencies from across the Indo-Pacific on research and development topics concerning coastal ecosystem preservation, conservation, and restoration,” according to a Sept. 11 release. Attendees will come from Palau, the Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Australia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Thailand, and Tonga. mbj
