The University of Guam held groundbreakings on Nov. 17 for a three-story research facility for the Water and Environmental Research Institute of the Western Pacific, which will add laboratories and classrooms in 13,000 square feet of floor space; and the Margaret Perez Hattori-Uchima School of Health Nursing Annex, which will add nursing laboratories and classrooms in 12,000 square feet of space. The construction projects, due to be completed by 2025, are expected to cost $22.7 million and are funded through grants from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration, Department of the Interior funds allocated by the Government of Guam, the UOG Endowment Foundation, and the University of Guam, among other sources.
