TakeCare Insurance Company Inc. will be accepted at Guam Memorial Hospital Authority.
The second statement came hours after GMHA officials announced the island's only public hospital will no longer accept TakeCare insurance. The issue is the question of alleged overdue payments owed to the hospital by the insurance company.
Early morning Aug. 20, GMHA released a statement saying the insurance company made a payment.
"GMHA is pleased that TakeCare immediately responded in good faith by hand-delivering a payment yesterday,” Lillian Perez-Posadas, administrator and CEO of GMHA said in the press release. “GMHA takes its responsibility to the healthcare of our people very seriously. Yesterday’s decision was a difficult one. I am relieved that TakeCare recognizes its responsibility and has responded positively.”
As of Aug. 19, GMHA reinstated its business relationship with TakeCare Insurance Company, Inc. and will continue to accept TakeCare insurance from its subscribers for the services at GMHA, according to the press release. It's not clear how much was owed and how much was paid.
This is not the first time the hospital and the company have been at odds over amounts owed for services provided to TakeCare subscribers seen at GMHA. Previous disputes involved amounts of up to $20 million.
