Guam Business Magazine announced February 21, 2024, that it is donating $20,000 to four non-profits in Guam and Saipan.
The Guam Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Nicolette Baldovino Community Foundation Inc., the American Red Cross NMI Chapter and the Northern Marianas College NMC Foundation will each receive $5,000.
The donations are from funds raised at the 2023 Guam Business Magazine Executive of the Year Gala, which was held Jan. 13 at the Hyatt Regency Guam.
A media conference in Guam on February 21 was attended by Nenita C. Baldovino, president of the Nicolette Baldovino Community Foundation Inc. and members of the Island Family Pharmacy team. The late Nicolette Baldovino was the inspiration and founder of Island Family Pharmacy.
Baldovino said, “When Maureen [Maratita, publisher of Guam Business Magazine] told me that the foundation is one the recipients of the EOY proceeds, what can I say except thank you very much. It has always been a passion of my daughter Nicolette to help the people of Guam. With your donation, this will really help continue my daughter’s legacy and our mission to help the people who are uninsured and underinsured, especially women with breast cancer and those suffering from diabetes.”
Chita A. Blaise, CEO and board members of the Guam Chapter of the American Red Cross also attended the media conference.
Blaise said, “The American Red Cross has had a tough year with Super Typhoon Mawar. The island is still reeling from the devastation. On behalf of the board members, staff, and victims of the disaster caused by Super Typhoon Mawar, who will benefit from your generous donation, our heartfelt thanks to you and your vision. The EOY has been in existence for some [40] years, and I take off my hat to you. Thank you so much.”
The Guam Business Magazine Executive of the Year is an annual award program that recognizes deserving executives who have made a difference to the island communities of Micronesia, as well as raising funds for deserving non-profit organizations. mbj
