TAIPEI, Taiwan — The message from Taiwan’s perspective is very clear.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, registered apprenticeships have been around for over 75 years. They have continued to be an avenue assisting employers in closing the skills gaps we identify in today’s workforce. Although there may be other solutions in upskilling the local labor force, I am here to tell you why this program may be invaluable to your organization.

SAIPAN — Businesses openings may have slowed in Saipan due to economic uncertainties, but existing businesses apparently see some light at the end of the tunnel. In recent months, there have been renovations to old or opening of new restaurants, electric vehicle charging stations made available to customers, and new spa treatments for the health conscious.

MAJURO, Marshall Islands — A new workers compensation law goes into effect Oct. 2 with the requirement that all employers in the Marshall Islands obtain insurance to cover worker injuries and medical care needed as a result of on-the-job injuries. Just days before it is implemented, Saipan-based insurance companies involved in potentially providing insurance for the worker compensation program have pushed back at greatly reduced rates.

An estimated $1 million was invested into Golfxpresso, Guam's newest spot for golf enthusiasts or those who are interested in learning without having to worry about the weather or cost of a round of golf.

There's about $280.9 million in federal funds that will be used to harden Defense Access Roads that essentially connect U.S. military installations in Guam, stretching from Andersen Air Force Base to Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz to Naval Base Guam.
